Circulation Services

*Library Card

 Users should enter the library with a valid identification card issued by the NPU library. Temporary visitors have to be over 18 years old and present one of the following IDs: Personal ID , Health Insurance ID , Driver’s license or Passport to exchange for the temporary library card to access the library at the entrance.

Notes:

  1. Spouses and dependents of the University employees can apply for a family card. The manager of the department? (or the advisor) where the assistant is working must act as the guarantor and contact person for the employee’s spouse and dependents.
  2. Users without audio-visual material borrowing privileges cannot take records, VCDs, DVDs or tapes out of the library.
  3. Users who have checked out library materials that are not yet due may renew those materials within 3 days of the material’s due date as long as the materials have not been placed a hold by another user. The new due date is figured based on the original due date. Users can renew library materials online, by phone, or in person.
  4. Users with a Temporary Reader Card cannot borrow library books or audio-visual materials.
  5. Reference books, course reserves, periodicals, newspapers and electronic databases are limited for use at the library only, and CAN NOT be checked out.

 

 

*Return

 All materials are borrowed and returned to the circulation desk or book drop before the due date.

 

*E-mail Notify Service

 Library notifications, including upcoming due date alert, overdue alert and reserve book notice, are sent to all users via e-mails.

 

*Overdue

 Please return all borrowed items on or before the due date. Overdue books are subject to the overdue fines. NT$10 dollars(NT$5 dollars for the university students)/per day for each overdue book Is charged. Unpaid fines will temporarily suspend the users’ rights to check out or reserve other books or use some of the library facilities. The fines will be accumulated until the borrowed items return to the library.

 

*Online Reserves

 Users can place a 'Reserve Request' on the items being checked out. Once the item is available, users will be notified through e-mail to pick it up at the circulation desk. Users can use library WebPAC to place a ' Reserve Request'.

 

*Lost

 If the library materials borrowed are lost, or damaged, the user must report the matter to the circulation desk of the Library. The user is fully responsible for the item’s replacement. Replacement procedure is processed according to library regulations and should be approved by librarians.

 

*Leaving the University

 If user graduate, drop out, transfer to another university, retire or quit, he/she must return all borrowed books or pay fines (if any) to the library.
